Early morning enjoy a drive to My Son, some 50 Km South West of Danang, the site of the most important Cham intellectual and religious centre, dating back to the late 4th century. My Son has only 20 monuments still standing today, and is considered a Cham counterpart to the grand cities of South-East Asia’s other Indian-influenced civilizations. The monuments are set in a verdant valley surrounded by hills and overlooked by massive Cat's Tooth Mountain. Then, continue to drive to My Lai passing through particularly beautiful countryside of rice paddies, manioc patches and vegetable gardens shaded by casuarinas and eucalyptus. Son My is a life-size memorial to a village where horrific war atrocities took place one day in 1968. Walk to visit the village and memorial hall before returning to Danang.
